National Coordinating Committee

YDSA elects its own national leadership every year in the form of the National Coordinating Committee (NCC). The NCC directs the activities, fundraising, publications, education, general political direction and coalition work of YDSA. The NCC is composed of two co-chairs, and seven at-large members. The co-chairs of YDSA are full members of the National Political Committee of DSA as well as the National Steering Committee.

YDSA-NCC members are elected every summer at our annual conference, which all active, dues-paying YDSA members are invited to participate in. The YDSA-NCC works alongside DSA staff to develop programming for the organization’s student body throughout the year.

2023-2024 National Coordinating Committee

Aron A-M, Co-Chair, University of Florida: Aron is one of YDSA’s two national Co-Chairs, having been a dues paying DSA member in the Gainesville, Florida area since August 2021. In that time, Aron has organized for academic freedom and trans rights with the University of Florida chapter, leading a hundreds strong occupation of Emerson Hall in protest of right-wing intervention on campus. Having previously served as an At-Large Member of the NCC, as Co-Chair Aron seeks to prioritize internal development of YDSA, including a renewed focus on internationalism, growth and development, digital communications, and support for chapters with difficult organizing conditions.

Evan C, Co-Chair University of Central Florida:  Evan has been organizing in the Orlando area for over four years, having participated in large scale mutual aid, state wide electoral work, and new union organizing with Unite Here Local 362. This past year he lead YDSA’s national trainings for new chapters and leaders, assisted in new labor organizing trainings, and planned the “Socialism is the Future Conference”. As Co-Chair he plans to continue to support the growth of YDSA chapter’s across the country and ensure chapters have a concrete plan to move from small development oriented campaigns into labor fights that transfer power to the working class. Personally, he is an avid runner and a fan of classic science fiction such as Asimov’s foundation series!

Callynn J, At Large Member University of Central Florida, My name is Callynn, and I use they/them pronouns. I was raised in St Petersburg Florida and am now a Junior at the University of Central Florida, studying Psychology and Philosophy with a minor in Sociology. While at UCF I’ve served as one of our chapters co-chairs for almost 2 years. In that time our chapter has put on large scale mutual aid events reaching hundreds of students on campus. I’ve also led our response to waves of fascist legislation in Florida, educating students on the legislation and introducing them into the basics of Marxism. My priorities this year are supporting local chapters in the work they’re doing and developing resources and strategies for the full range of material conditions in this country. When I have free time its spent diving, and practicing (or teaching) Tae Kwon Do.

Carlos C, At-Large Member, California State Polytechnic University Pomona: Carlos (he/him) is a history graduate student at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. In 2020, at the height of the COVID pandemic, Carlos co-founded a YDSA chapter at his commuter public university. Bronco YDSA built a strong on-campus progressive coalition, engaged in successful community initiatives like emergency rent control in Pomona, and supported historic unionization efforts on their campus. Concurrently as co-lead for YDSA-LA organizing, Carlos was actively involved in supporting strikes, facilitating workshops, and working alongside organizers to successfully win rent control in the city of Pasadena. Carlos is always down for a chat, politics or otherwise; please reach out to talk at .

Erin L, At-Large Member, New York University: Erin is an undergraduate student at NYU studying Politics and History. She joined NYU YDSA as a freshman and served on its Organizing Committee for two years, helping lead a reproductive justice campaign to demand that NYU provide free reproductive healthcare to all students regardless of insurance status. On the NCC, Erin is excited to develop the rank-and-file strategy, help organize YDSA’s national bodily autonomy campaign, and mentor women and people of color to build our mass multi-racial working-class movement.

Hailey S, At-Large Member, Wayne State University: Hailey (she/they) is a 4th year undergraduate student studying Public Health at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She joined WSU YDSA in September 2021, was elected to be the chapter’s secretary a few months later, and has now been serving as the chair since January 2023. As a disabled organizer, they advocate to make YDSA an accessible place where people of all marginalized identities can engage to the best of their abilities. They believe to build YDSA, we need to be engaging in all sites of mass struggle on local, national, and international levels. They believe that by bringing an ambitious democratic socialist program to our work in all areas of mass struggle, YDSA has a part to play in building the movement for a democratic republic founded on a new people’s constitution.

Noah T, At Large Member, University of Oregon: I’m an undergraduate student worker and organizer at the University of Oregon. As a lifelong member of the working poor, I was naturally drawn to socialism and the struggle for a better world— which was further affirmed when my hometown (Phoenix, OR) burned down in 2020. In fall 2021, when in-person organizing re-ignited, I joined and quickly became involved in leadership in YDSA, helping re-affiliate UO’s chapter with the national, growing and developing our local, and laying the groundwork to unionize UO’s nearly 4000  student workers in the first union of its kind. Through the 2022-23 school year, I ardently and wholeheartedly organized for YDSA and the soon-to-be-certified UO Student Workers union effort, helping bring about significant wins (with more to come!) that I’m committed to spreading to other chapters and to the NCC. Please reach out at  — I love 1on1s!

Vivian D, At Large Member, Boston University:  Vivian is a senior at Boston University studying Ancient Greek and Latin. She grew up in San Jose, California, and briefly served on the steering committee of Silicon Valley DSA. Since then, they have led Boston University YDSA on housing, student services, and labor campaigns. Vivian has also served as an editor of the Activist, YDSA’s national publication, and hopes to be a rank and file union teacher someday!

Winnie M, At-Large Member, New York University: Winnie is a grad student at NYU. She has been organizing in DSA since 2020, helping to lead several electoral campaigns and found the DSA for a New Deal for CUNY legislative campaign in NYC to make CUNY tuition-free and fully funded. Through those campaigns and others, Winnie has supported the growth of NYC YDSA and DSA, helping to start new chapters and recruit new leaders. She also served on the NYC-DSA Steering Committee and YDSA’s National Organizing Committee. On the NCC, she hopes to prioritize revitalizing our external communications, growing our mentorship program, and supporting chapters as they navigate local campaigns.
